RI participated in United Nations conference

RI Global participated September 6-9 in key United Nations conference on enabling development and realizing the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).

The 4th Conference of State Parties (COSP) to the CRPD was held at the United Nations in New York, and was centered around the theme of "Enabling Development, Realizing the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities", with the sub-themes of "Realizing the Convention through International Cooperation", "Political and Civil Participation" and "Work and Employment".

Ri participated in the COSP where RI`s president, secretary general, staff and executive committee members took part in the expert panels, thematic discussions, plenary sessions and side events. RI co-organized a side event titled "Tools for Transformation: Resources Developed Through International Cooperation". This event was held i collaboration with RI US member the United States International Council on Disability (USICD) and the Disability Rights Fund (DRF). 

At the side event RI president Anne Hawker, spoke on "Best practices in training stakeholders to effectively implement the CRPD and on RI`s current project working for the inclusion and empowerment of women with disabilities in India.

RI is proud to have been taken part in this event and continues to actively promote the global ratification and implementation of the CRPD.
