The right to work is far from being a reality for millions of Europeans with disabilities willing to work. 75% of people with severe disabilities do not have the opportunity to fully participate in the European labour market.

Young people are in general at least twice unemployed as far the overall workforce. People with disabilities are two to three times more likely to be unemployed than non-disabled people.

Having a job is one of the most important aspects of social inclusion, thus the European Disability Forum (EDF) considers that promoting and guaranteeing access to employment is a key issue of high relevance for young persons with disabilities.
